Kitakyûsyû Quasi-National Park

South side of Hiraodai heights

Hiraodai Plateau
is a small midair karst plateau floats 400 to 700 meters above sea level. It is a designated natural monument, but lime mines have vested rights.

Outdoor Activity Field, Hiraodai Countryside Park

Hiraodai Countryside Park
There are two lime mines on Hiraodai. Mitsubishi Materials' and Sumitomo Ôsaka Cement's. Old site was redeveloped as the park in 2003.

Hiraodai Countryside Park Campsite

HCP Campsite
is open only summer season. This charged site has walk-in and drive-in campsites, lounge with vending machines, shower room, etc.

Sihôdai Hill

Sihôdai Hill
is the other side of Hiraodai. It was formed when an awesome pyroclastic flow of Aso, the world largest volcano, hit 80,000 years ago.

Nakatôge Pass

Nakatôge Pass
is the 490 meter-high pass between Suôdai Hill and Sihôdai Hill, Hiraodai Branch Path (1-Lane).

Mt. Ôhera

Mt. Ôhera
is 587 meter-high, but looks a small hill when viewed on Hiraodai. Round limestones cover the south slope, so the slope called Sheep's field.


Yaba-Hita-Hikosan Quasi-National Park

Mt. Yuhudake viewed at the top of Mt. Hatimenzan

Mt. Yuhudake
viewed from Syôke-no-hana, or the top of Hatimenzan, 650 meters above sea level, Nakatu, Ôita. Hatimenzan is a lave table plateau.

Usa City viewed at the top of Mt. Hatimenzan

viewed from First Observatory of Mt. Hatimenzan. The top of the mountain is flat and large, so that four observatories and the summit there.
