Kokura Castle
is the symbol of the old castle town of Kokura. Though what-you-see is replica built in 1958.
Today, the town is the central district of Kitakyûsyû.
Kaikyô Dramaship
is a new facility that invite you "a dramatic trip through the history of the Kanmon Straits". The overhanged oval-shaped is a work in 2003.
Kaikyô Messe Simonoseki
is an acclaimed international convention center with a high-rise observatory, Simonoseki.
RiverWalk Kitakyûsyû
is a cultural mixed-use center designed by American Architect John Jerde. It was built in Kokura Castle North Area, 2003.
Bikkuri Donkey Restaurants
is a nationwide roadside hamburger chain known for their decorative stores. This Kurosaki store was opened in 2004.
Gotôzi Bus Terminal
looks horrible at night. But This is the main transportation center of ex-coal mining town of Tagawa.
APRO.1 (Patinko Hall)
is a gambling hall with hundreds slot machines. The wall is Japanese traditional white-and-red painting. The Black accent is like a lacquer.
The University of Kitakyûsyû
is a city university established in 1946. This main bldg. is a work by Tosirô (Toshiro) Ikehara, 1995. It received a prestigious BCS Award.
Monorail Kitagata Station
is located between Urban Expressway No. 1 (4-lane, top) and National Route No. 322 (10-lane, ground). The picture was taken at cold night.
Dairi-Matubara Underpass
is an orange-and-white spotted prewar structure under Kitakyûsyû Railroad Container Terminal. New overpass completed in 2002.
Hazegatôge Tunnel
is a concrete-sprayed mountain tunnel of HPR No. 28, 1937. 1.5 Lanes. 280 meters long. It looks like a real cave.
Kikugaoka 6th South Slope
is in Moritune. The town is the most popular suburban residential section in Kitakyûsyû. Just 15 min. from City Center by the monorails.
Ôtemati (Kokura)
is, on the other hand, the most popular downtown residential section in Kitakyûsyû. The place known as the A-bomb Fatman's first target.
